- 2022 Division of Medicinal Chemistry Award, Sponsored by the Thomas J. Perun Endowment Fund
Lawrence G. Hamann, co-founder, President and CEO, stealth NewCo, is the recipient of the 2022 Division of Medicinal Chemistry Award.
The Division of Medicinal Chemistry Award is given in even years, and the presentation and award symposium are held at the National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium. This award is intended to recognize significant contributions to the field of Medicinal Chemistry and is funded by a generous contribution from the Thomas J. Perun Endowment Fund.
The 2022 Award will be presented during the 37th ACS National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium in New York, US.
- 2022 IUPAC-Richter Prize
Michael E. Jung, of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA, has been awarded the 2022 IUPAC-Richter Prize in recognition of his research, which has afforded new drugs for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer.
The IUPAC-Richter Prize has been established by a generous gift from the Chemical Works of Gedeon Richter, Plc. (Budapest, Hungary) to acknowledge the key role that medicinal chemistry plays toward improving human health.
This year marks the ninth occasion of the IUPAC-Richter Prize, which was established in 2005 by the IUPAC and Richter PLC. Awarded biannually, the awardee is announced by the IUPAC following nominations and the decision of an independent international selection committee. The awardee receives an award of $10,000, which is sponsored by Richter PLC, and a plaque, which is presented by IUPAC.
The 2022 IUPAC-Richter Prize will be presented during the 37th ACS National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium in New York, US, and the recipient will also give a lecture on the subject of his/her research at the XXVII EFMC International Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry (4-8 September 2022) in Nice, France.
